Eugene J. Frett, Partner
Mr. Frett has been practicing law for over twenty years, specializing in complex commercial litigation. He has successfully represented plaintiffs and defendants in both state and federal courts throughout the United States. Mr. Frett's cases have encompassed a wide range of intricate legal issues in a broad spectrum of subject areas, including contracts, partnerships, corporations, securities, patents, trademarks, copyrights, RICO, insurance coverage, unfair competition, deceptive trade practices, professional malpractice and the U.C.C. Prior to joining Sperling & Slater, Mr. Frett was a Teaching Fellow at Stanford University Law School.

Directors and Officers
Mr. Frett currently represents various directors and officers of certain now-insolvent corporations, defending them against claims including breach of fiduciary duty, corporate waste and fraud. See, e.g., Quality Stores, Inc. v. Bliss, et. al. (W.D. Mich).
Environmental Litigation
Mr. Frett has recently handled a number of environmental matters on behalf of firm clients. In one case, he prevailed on summary judgment and obtained a judgment of no liability on a CERCLA matter. In another matter, Mr. Frett successfully negotiated a settlement with an insurance company regarding coverage for environmental cleanup litigation.
Intellectual Property Litigation
Mr. Frett successfully argued and received judgment as a matter of law, in a case
involving allegations of trade dress infringement, after a one-week trial in Effikal
International, Inc. v. Field Controls, L.L.C. (E.D. Mich.).
