Of Counsel:

Harvey J. Barnett

Gregg R. Hague is a partner in the firm. Mr. Hague has more than 18 years experience representing clients in federal and state courts, as well as in arbitrations and mediations. He has litigated a variety of cases covering a broad range of issues, including contracts, business fraud and other business torts, partnership law, employment and discrimination law, commercial real estate and leasing issues, insurance coverage and bad faith claims, corporate successor liability, constitutional law, class actions, antitrust, patent, trade dress, and ERISA.

Most recently, Mr. Hague successfully defended a Chicago engineering and consulting firm against claims seeking millions of dollars for tortious interference with contract as well as breach of employment contract. Mr. Hague also recently successfully defended a prominent Chicago real estate developer against a lawsuit seeking to prevent the developer from proceeding with the redevelopment of a major commercial property in Chicago. Additionally, Mr. Hague has served as national counsel for a client which is a defendant in the nationwide fen-phen litigation, coordinating and overseeing the client's defense of nearly 100 cases across the country.

Over his career Mr. Hague has played a key role in achieving significant successful results for firm clients. For example, in Tenex v. Plastic Masters, Inc., Mr. Hague represented a major manufacturing client in a dispute with its supplier. In that case, Mr. Hague accompanied the client to the supplier's production facility and was instrumental in obtaining the return of the client's production molds on an emergency basis from the supplier. In another case, Mr. Hague, together with Mr. Slater and lawyers from another prominent Chicago law firm, successfully challenged the constitutionality of the Illinois Motor Vehicle Franchise Act. That successful challenge allowed the firm's clients to proceed with the relocation of their automobile dealerships. The Illinois Supreme Court's opinion in that matter is Fields Jeep-Eagle, Inc. v. Chrysler Corp., 645 N.E.2d 946 (Ill. 1994). In Rosenstein et al. v. U.S. Equities, Inc., Mr. Hague together with Mr. Macknin and Mr. Sperling, obtained a six-figure sanctions award on behalf of a major Chicago developer against an adversary that had pursued a frivolous lawsuit against the developer.

Mr. Hague graduated from Carleton College (1979, cum laude) and Washington University School of Law (1984), where he was a Notes and Comments Editor for the Law Review, the Washington University Law Quarterly. Mr. Hague has served as an Arbitrator for the Cook County Mandatory Arbitration Program, and has also served as a member of the Board of Directors of Chicago Volunteer Legal Services Foundation.
