Steven G. Lisa

Steven G. Lisa is Of Counsel to the firm and maintains his patent practice as the Law Offices of Steve G. Lisa, Ltd. (www.patentit.com). Mr. Lisa is a registered patent attorney and a member of the Illinois State Bar, the Patent Bar and the Trial Bar. He is admitted to practice before numerous Federal District and Appellate Courts.

Mr. Lisa has practiced for 24 years in the specialized field of patent law. He began as an associate in Chicago, learning under the preeminent patent litigation and licensing attorney, Gerald D. Hosier, Esq. There, Mr. Lisa learned to conduct trials on complex patent and trade secret cases, and to work efficiently and creatively to assess and resolve disputes. Mr. Hosier was a pioneer in developing contingent fee representation in patent cases, and Mr. Lisa worked closely with Mr. Hosier on the historic Jerome Lemelson enforcement and licensing program. In 1991, Mr. Lisa opened the Law Offices of Steven G. Lisa, Ltd.. However, Mr. Hosier and Mr. Lisa continue to work together on high-profile, contingent fee patent enforcement programs.

Mr. Lisa has extensive primary responsibility in all aspects of patent procurement and enforcement, including first chair responsibility on lengthy trials. Mr. Lisa has represented individuals, universities and corporations, often on a contingent fee basis, to obtain, license and litigate patents in all fields of technology. He has had substantial involvement in numerous enforcement matters resulting in more than $1.4 billion in recoveries for his clients. A large part of his practice involves representing major research universities on patent licensing and litigation matters on a contingent fee basis.

Mr. Lisa is an adjunct professor at the Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law, at the Arizona State University, and teaches a class on contingent fee patent enforcement. Through the Lisa Foundation, Mr. Lisa has established two patent law fellowships at the Sandra Day O'Connor of law, as well as an additional annual award to a graduating student for academic excellence and significant contribution to the Center for the Study of Law Science and Technology and the College of Law.

Mr. Lisa obtained his B.S. in Electrical Engineering, with a specialty in Solid State Technology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1981. Mr. Lisa attended law school, first at Arizona State University and then at the University of Chicago. Mr. Lisa obtained his law degree from ASU in 1984. Before graduating from law school, Mr. Lisa passed the US Patent Bar, and was admitted in 1983 to practice before the Patent Office. Mr. Lisa received academic honors at each of the University of Illinois, ASU, and the University of Chicago.
