Steven C. Florsheim

Mr. Florsheim joined Sperling & Slater as a partner in 2000 after spending several years at the Chicago office of Kirkland & Ellis, where he became a partner in 1997.  He began his legal career as a law clerk to the Honorable Harry D. Leinenweber in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.  Mr. Florsheim’s areas of practice range includes complex commercial litigation, employment law and intellectual property disputes.  He has special expertise in litigating and arbitrating disputes over corporate director and officer fiduciary duties, accounting and banking practices, company valuations, fraudulent transfers, and insurer bad faith.  He regularly practices in federal and state courts around the country, including bankruptcy courts.  Mr. Florsheim is available to serve as a mediator or arbitrator in complex commercial disputes and focuses his alternative dispute resolution practice on matters involving closely-held businesses and those requiring complex, structured resolutions. 

Mr. Florsheim has served as an officer and director of public and private companies, managed operating businesses in several industries and acted as outside counsel to a wide variety of companies.  He has served on the investment committee of a private company which has made over 200 investments.  Mr. Florsheim has been lead negotiator on numerous business deals and has had primary responsibility for structuring the transactions.  He has extensive experience in the restaurant, hospitality and real estate industries.
